I invited the gifted painter Ivi Gabrielides – living for years in a beautiful apartment (that is also her personal gallery of art) of an old beautiful house on Póros Island – to impart us her thoughts about painting and allowing us to show some of her paintings. A charming and elegant artist, she is a person of few words rather letting her soul inhabit her oeuvres. Visiting her art gallery-home and meeting her was one of my highlights of my island stay. (Peter Sragher)

Being – ephemeral existence in this reality.

A body of light, water and matter, thoughts, feelings, emotions. All of them are transient facts.

How, when to express all this?

Ivi Gabrielides speaking about painting to her friend poet Liana Sakelliou who is not in the photo but is so present – foto Peter Sragher

There are periods intersected by attraction for light, others attracted by the vision of the mineral, vegetable, animal and human aspects of the world.

I paint by downloading what I feel to be in that moment.
